Today started out kinda rough. This is at least the 3rd time this week I Parker has woken me up in the middle of the night yelling, “I need to pee pee.” It wouldn’t be so bad if he wasn’t all the way on the other end of the upstairs. By the time I get up there I am pretty awake because I’m trying to not to trip up the dark stairs or let Parker trip on the bathroom stairs. So far I have done pretty good I guess since no one’s has gotten hurt during out late night potty breaks. He has finally figured out how to go pee by himself, a task he decided to do after visiting grandpa and nana’s house last week. I have tried myself to get him to do it for a while now, but he needed “mommy’s” help still. So even though he can pee by himself now, he still needs me to come up the stairs and help him get to the potty. Or at least he will scream bloody murder until you do. I usually try to help out with this since most day’s Stephen has to wake up earlier than me. Someday’s though, Monday’s and Thursday when he is OKC his alarm goes off at 6:45, he usually pushes snooze (like today) until about 7:00. When this starts occurring, it wakes me up of course. I lay there trying to sleep through it and ignore it since I know he is just as tired, but know also that in 20 minutes from that time my alarm will be going off at 7:20. Maybe some people can fall asleep quickly and really enjoy those 15 minutes of sleep that they maybe get once they fall asleep, but I usually take at least 10 minutes to fall asleep and 10 minutes of being asleep is kinda of mean. Like a teaser, not even long enough to call a nap. It was nice that Stephen seemed to feel bad that I was still awake after getting up at 6:00 am with Parker, but I just wanted him to get up at 6:45 and turn off his alarm so I could maybe get 30 more minutes of sleep in. No such luck today.
So at 7:30 after I decided to try the snooze out, I get up to go wake up the big bear upstairs. Connor is not much of a morning person. I go upstairs and turn on the bathroom light and closet light as usual. I lay his clothes on the bed and tell him it’s time to get up and hurry. I go back downstairs to get his breakfast going. Waffles today since they were pretty quick and with some peanut butter will hopefully keep him going longer. I also gave him half of a banana and some chocolate/ white milk, and cereal. Well this was all ready and I went to get dressed. After all this I come back to the kitchen with no Connor. He is still upstairs moving very slowly and finally getting dressed and brushing his teeth. Around 7:50 he comes downstairs to eat breakfast quickly so we can hurry and get to the bus. Around 8:07 I wake the little monkey upstairs. It is hard to wake them when they are sleeping so hard. Which Parker was doing since he didn’t budge as I moved around in his closet picking out his clothes for the day with the light on. Finally he stirs and I get him downstairs so we can make sure Connor has everything for school. I turn the car on to warm it up and tell Connor to get in the car and get his back pack. As I walk out the door carrying Parker, I see that Connor is in the car but his backpack is still sitting on the floor. So carry both Parker and the backpack out quickly so we don’t miss the bus. We make it to the bus stop just in time for the bus to arrive and pick up all the cold kiddos.
That part of the morning was done, now for the rest of the day. My stomach wasn’t too happy so I decided to lay down for a few min. I got Parker settled with a muffin, milk, and cereal. I turned on Sesame Street and he was enjoying his usual morning routine as well, breakfast with Elmo. I crawl into bed hoping for just a few minutes to rest since I didn’t sleep so well last night. I get all covered and my brain starts running through all the things I should be doing instead of napping. Then the neighbor behind us starts making noise with a tractor. I decided to try to sleep through that. Then Parker starts hollering, “can’t hear it, can’t hear it.” So I get up and turn up the tv a bit so he can hopefully pick up on the colors and letter they are talking about today. I get back in bed and lay there trying to fall asleep. Not long after, the alarm goes off and it’s time to get up. Kinda a waste. So I’m up, really up. Time for coffee to make it official. Parker and I have some cereal together and we do some puzzles, color, and read a book practicing our colors and trying to remember what color Yellow is. All the other colors he has down, but yellow just won’t stick. I know one day it will just click with him, but it is a bit frustrating when you tell him the color and ask him about another yellow item and he has already forgotten what color we were talking about. We will just keep practicing. So we have lunch after all these things, and now he is napping. Peace and quiet, but lots to do.. not so relaxing for mommy now. Laundry and work to do.
