The Pajama Dilema

Tonight as Parker is putting on his pajamas, he starts asking for help as he does most night when he doesn't have something to hurry up for.  I encourage him to keep trying and do it himself, since he has before.  I know he can do it so I don't help.  He looks at me and says, "Mom you just don't understand me alright!"  I of course don't say anything yet, since I am still trying to comprehend what he just said and why.  He says, "alright mom?!" again.  I say, "ok," not really sure what to say to that.  Should I tell him I understand you more than anyone!  No I decided to just leave it at Ok and helped him get finished.  If only that was the end of the pj dilema.  He tells me they are too big for bubba.  Which is his new thing lately.  Telling me they are too big for brother which they are obviously cutting it close to being too small for Parker.  I'm guessing that is his way of saying they are too small?  He tugs at his pants a few times and they are bothering him, so I tell him to go get a different pair and change them.  Well here we go again, it begins again.  This time a little less fussing and only get his legs both stuck in one side once.  We finish that up just in time for him to start bawling about the missing blanket.  "There's you're sign," for those that have heard that before.  AKA Parker is ready for bed!  Time to search for the blanket and get this boy to bed ASAP.

A Date with A Three Year Old

This week I decided I would take Parker on a date.  Stephen and Connor going to the NBA Thunder Basketball game in OKC so that shouldn't stop Parker and I from having a fun night.  I started brainstorming on what kinds of fun things you can do with a three year old on a date.  I am with him all day most days anyway so how could this be different.  I tried thinking of his favorite foods to eat out and a place we haven't been this week.  Chick-fil-A and Smashburger were out of question since we had already eaten there.  So I thought, how about breakfast.  We went to Mimi's.  They make some of the best breakfast (in my opinion).  Parker didn't care as long as they had pancakes.  He was soo excited.  Wishing I had a video of him saying pancakes, when telling me what he was going to eat.

We arrived at Mimi's and of course he got his pancakes and orange juice.  He was super excited now.  Not to mention they also bring you a huge muffin, which I requested to be blueberry since that is also a fav. of his.  So now he is a happy little boy munching on breakfast for dinner.  Of course we couldn't go without the potty break right after our food arrived.  Like any good date, I escort my date to the restroom.  As I am helping get things going and finished up, I noticed that my date is going comando and has his pants are on backwards.  I guess before leaving the house he was a big boy, did his potty time, and got dressed.  Only partially.  I probably should have been a good mom and changed him there, but it wasn't bothering him and changing in the stall just didn't sound all that clean since we would be soon returning to our dinner.  We finished up our yummy dinner, I mean breakfast then off we were to our next destination.

We went to Barnes and Noble next.  I had a groupon to use that was about to expire so I figured we could incorporate that into our fun night.  I told him we were going to a book store, kind of like the library and he was excited about that.  We made it to the childrens section.  He made sure to play with each toy and bounce from here to there before we were able to sit and read a few books.  He was intrigued by all the fisher price/ baby toys.  If they made noise he played with it.  I felt semi bad for all the buttons he was pushing and noise they were making as he did it, but he was having fun and there wasn't anyone giving us the look yet.  We read a few books then decided it was getting late so we needed to head out if we wanted to make it for dessert.

As requested earlier in the day, we went to Peachwave.  By now it is 9:00 and I'm just hoping there are a couple more young children there to help with my bad mommy thoughts going on in my head for taking a three year old to Peachwave after 9.  Oh well, didn't last long.  Soon we were enjoying the tastyness that Peachwave has to offer.  It was very busy, but we still had fun and enjoyed our dessert.  My date spilt icecream down his clothes and as most do at that age, he decided to remind me that he was three.  As I wiped it off and tell him it was ok.  He is telling me it's not ok, it's not ok and giving me the look of this is not OK.  Finally after telling him we were going home to get cleaned up after he finished, he sat down to get his last few bites.  We finished up and headed home.

While driving home, I decided to give him a recap of our date.  We talked about our dinner, the book store, and dessert.  After tell him about going to the book store, Parker said, "then we went to Peachwave, The End."

My date was pretty well mannered, minus a few tantrums, laying in the booth at the restaurant, burping after explaining that your supposed to use good manners on a date and saying "what?," and having interesting choice of clothing style.  We had fun and hope to have many more date nights to come.

Cheesing it up with my cute date!

As you can see, getting him to take a picture isn't so easy, hence the reason I only have three.

I'm Boycotting Reasor's

Just wondering if I am the only one who never has a good experience when visiting Reasor's?  Each time I go, I think this time will be better.  Oh no, same as usual with some extra stuff thrown in this trip.  Something about Reasor's just gives me anxiety issues.  I very much prefer our Walmart here.  I know where everything is and prices are much lower.  The cookies are way better at Reasor's for the kids, but not worth the headache.  For some reason or another I some how end up going to Reasor's.  It is a hair closer, but after today, not close enough.  We get to Reasor's and as usual Parker spots one of the car carts.  They are fun for about 5 minutes then it is time to escape and touch everything around us, bounce from here to there, and try pushing the cart for me.  We have fun with that for a little while, but then mommy starts getting sidetracked and off the task at hand.  What else did I need to get, and where is it exactly in here?  Not to mention the cart has a huge tendency to turn to the left so pushing it requires some special maneuvering.  At least I am getting a good work out on one side right?!

Finally after I find everything I need, after going back in forth in the store since I had pasted what I needed a couple times already, we make it to the check out lane.  I thought hey lets do self check out, Parker can help and I can maybe use some expired coupons.  They were only a day expired but I was going to give it a try.  Parker did help a little and found it pretty fun, but then we started having technical difficulties and he didn't want to wait to scan the next item.  We fought over the bag of bananas for a few minutes since they couldn't be scanned and he was determined to do so.  A couple of coupons get flag or something and the manager (a very not so nice lady with a little mean in her) has to come over.  Yea for me.  I am at least glad the old cop that is usually standing at the register isn't there and giving me the look.  He is very annoying himself since he thinks he is a check out person and decides to come over any time something happens, even though he himself can't do anything.  Just makes me uncomfortable and feel like I have done something bad.. which I haven't!  Ok maybe I might have used a couple of expired coupons.  Who hasn't.

So the check out part is almost done and as I'm going to get my wallet, I remembered I forgot to get it out of my other purse.  Oh great, now I have to go tell the soo nice manager that I need to run to my car.  At this point and I am sweating and having a major hot flash.  Parker and I leave the groceries and run to the car.  This should be quick.  Not so much, Parker says I'm thirsty, I grab him his bottled water, no he doesn't want to take that in.  I put the water back in the car and he starts being the 3 yo that he is and decides he doesn't want to go back in.  He then spots his monkey on a stick and taking that in will make it all better.  Finally we make it back in, Parker shows the manager his monkey and off we go.

After all the crazyness of the trips to the grocery store, this may sound silly to some, but I prefer shopping with Parker.  At least at Walmart I do.  The very few times when I shop by myself, I miss him not shopping with me.  No I'm not insane, he makes going to the store a little fun and not so much of a business kind of deal.  I know one day soon that, I will be shopping alone and I will miss our hectic grocery store trips.  For now I will cherish these times and keep shopping at Walmart.

Monday morning with the Wilson's.

At our house, most things start at breakfast.  That's when the crazyness of the day begins.  Trying to get Connor dressed, fed, and out the door to get to the bus.  It's not so fun waking a 7 yo that is so not a morning person.  We try to be somewhat quiet in hopes that little brother will hopefully stay asleep for a few minutes longer.  Sometimes it works, sometimes, not so much.  If he is still sleeping when we need to leave, I wake him just in time to put him in the car in PJ's.  Finally we get Connor to the bus and say our goodbyes, then part two of the morning routine begins with trying to get Parker to eat breakfast.  A 3 yo needs lots of motivation to eat.  So many things to do and see at the same time, as well as questions to be asked.  Today I tried using Elmo as motivation to eat so he could watch his morning shows.  Plastic Iron Man was much more important today.  He can go really fast and fly when placed on the lazy susan and spinned really quickly.  At some point, Parker finishes eating and he gets to watch his shows for a little while.  He decides to build a tent out of the pillows and blankets in the den and watch tv from there.  That happens most days.  After a little while, I get him dressed, brush teeth, and brush his wild and crazy hair.  By this time it is already getting close to time to run errands and eat lunch.  Four loads of laundry down and grocery list ready... time to go.
Notice the crazy hair in the background?!

Connor's First Soccer Game

This March we started soccer for the first time.  Both boys really wanted to play so we decided to give it a try.  We knew it was in their future, but missed the deadline last time, so figured it wasn't meant to be yet.  Well we made it this time and have some soccer lovin boys.  At least Connor does so far.  Not sure what Parker thinks about the whole soccer game part yet, but that's another story and saving that for a future blog.  Connor picked up on soccer real quick.  I guess he had heard so much about his Uncle Trey playing that he knew kinda what to do.  It took him a little while to get switched from basketball mode to soccer.  Throwing the ball in soccer is a lot different from basketball.  That was news to me as well.  I am learning a lot too!  He finally got that figured out and from then on he has been really getting the hang of it.  He is playing with some of his buddies in his class, Max and Andy, so that helps a lot.  They seem to make a good team.  We were very lucky that Max's dad coaches and asked Connor to play with them.  Metro Tulsa is very hard to get into with a good team.  So is soccer a new addition to our sports round up, yes probably.  As long as he is enjoying it, we'll sign him up on time.  :)

First game and already a pro, I may be a little biased though.

My boys got skills.

Winding up...
And he launches.

Go Connor!  Goooaaallll!
A little bored and ready for nap.  I'm glad he is being still and watching for a minute.  Yes I said a minute.  That's about as long is it lasted.

He notices me taking pictures and the crankyness begins.

He seems to be thinking about something.. hopefully soccer.

Sure wish I could have moved like that at 7.  He didn't get it from his momma. ;)

Wants to be like his Uncle Trey.

Ski Trip 2011

Our first bear sighting during the trip.  What a way to start the trip off.  A huge brown bear.  These boys definetely won't want to continue now.

Getting some advice

Parker's first day of ski school.  Already looks like a little pro.  As you can see, he is a little bored and ready to get moving.  His favorite thing is to just point his ski's and go.  Scares me to death, but he knows how to stop (just lean to the side and soon the snow will stop him).

Our home for a few days

Boys chillin on the couch after long day of skiing

Visiting Connor at ski school during their lunch break.  Glad to see all smiles!

What a sight

The kings of the castle

Excited to go check out the ice castle!

Our view from the gondola of the village down in Keystone.

Time to get a good pic, boys can't run from me in the Gondola :)

As you can see, the picture taking doesn't last long before Parker starts telling me no more pictures, no more pictures

My lil ski bums

It starts with a nap in the car before dinner

This is after the ride home from dinner.  Needless to say he is pooped.  Glad it's the last day.

Connor's first fieldtrip

2/16/11 Connor went on his first field trip to the Philbrook Museum.  The museum is the Phillips family's home (aka Phillips gas, Phillips 66).  He really enjoyed the visit.  Besides all the you can't touch this and the lower your voices, they found it pretty interesting.  His favorite part was seeing the dance floor in the ballroom that lights up and the mummy.  All the boys loved seeing the mummy.

Making a butterfly during their craft time

Connor and his buds, Ali and Andy.  Doing their best statue.  They look so real.

Funny mummy's

Still having fun and Max decided to join the group.
